REV. JOHN E. NAUS, S.J., SCHOLARSHIP FUND
A Milwaukee native, Father John Naus came to Marquette in 1963 as dean of students. He served Marquette in a variety of capacities, including 40 years in the Office of the President, 28 years as chaplain of Schroeder Hall, the director of spiritual welfare and in a teaching capacity as associate professor of philosophy. He concelebrated Tuesday night Mass at St. Joan of Arc Chapel for more than 25 years, a Marquette tradition that has touched the lives of thousands of students.
Following his Marquette retirement in August 2012, Father Naus lived at the St. Camillus Jesuit Community in Wauwatosa, Wis., though he visited campus almost every day until just weeks before his death on Sept. 22, 2013. He also continued sending his famous summer Christmas cards each year.
The Rev. John E. Naus, S.J., Scholarship Fund was established by Father Naus to assist students with financial need.
