Henk Family Endowed Scholarship
Dr. William (Bill) Henk, dean of the College of Education, retired at the end of the Fall 2020 semester after more than 16 years of service to Marquette University.
As Dean Henk has noted, “With the help of our alumni, friends, and community partners, we became a College, supported Catholic schools, urban education, and human service agencies, developed exciting new academic programs, produced impactful scholarship, pioneered a popular blog, fared well with accreditations, and garnered several University awards and external professional recognitions.”
Bill regards his time at Marquette, an institution with a steadfast commitment to its Catholic, Jesuit mission, as a professional privilege and personal blessing. Looking rearward, he’s also extremely grateful for the significant scholarship support he received as an undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral student. In gratitude, as a way to “pay it forward,” he and his wife, Lisa, established the William H. and Mary A. Henk Family Endowed Scholarship named in honor of his working-class parents, William and Mary Henk, for placing the highest value on education.
As Dr. Henk takes his leave, he seeks no accolades or gifts. Instead, his fondest hope is that those whose lives he’s touched through his work will consider contributing to the family scholarship and give his beloved Marquette Education students the same life-changing opportunities that he enjoyed.
