Participation Challenges
1881 Participation Challenge
An anonymous alumni family will contribute $1,000,000 to Marquette once we reach 1881 donors.
50 States Participation Challenge
When we receive a gift from a donor in each of the 50 states, Paul Manghera, Bus Ad ’82, will give $1,500 to support Marquette students.
Alumni Couple Participation Match
Michael Eng ’81, and Lee Ann, Nurs ’80, Dillis, together with Dan, Nurs ’06, Grad ’14, and Brittany, H Sci ’12, Nurs ’14, Hensgen, will give $500 to Marquette for every alumni couple who makes a gift to any fund, up to $50,000.
New Donor Challenge
The Reeves family will give $60,000 to support Equity in MKE if 500 new donors participate on Give Marquette Day. Equity in MKE provides room and board, technology or book funding to Urban Scholars and other scholarship recipients, removing a significant financial barrier for student success.
Northeast Participation Challenge
If 250 donors from the Northeast (NY, NJ, MA, PA RI, and CT) make a gift on Give Marquette Day, members of the Northeast Campaign Committee will give $130,000 to Marquette.
Parent Challenge
Marquette parents Meredith and Jack Callison will donate $100 to Marquette for every (current or past) parent donor, up to $40,000.
Participation Challenge: 12-1 p.m.
Greg, Arts ’81, and Cindy Archambault will donate $100 to Marquette for every donor who makes a gift between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. CT, up to $10,000.
Student Participation Match
Brothers David Trautschold, Eng ’06, and Matt Trautschold, Eng ’04, will give $50 for each student donor, up to 200 donors.
West Region Participation Challenge
With the launch of Time to Rise, Marquette’s largest campaign in history, we invite you to rise up with alumni and friends in the West Region as part of the Time to Rise West Region Challenge — an opportunity to unlock $125,000 from Jim Eschweiler, Bus Ad ’91, and Siobain Eschweiler, Comm ’91, when we reach 1881 donors from Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
Young Alumni Participation Challenge
Members of the Young Alumni Campaign Committee will give $30,000 when 1,000 young alumni (graduates from 2003-2021) make a gift to any fund on Give Marquette Day.
College and School Specific Matches & Challenges
Klingler College of Arts and Sciences
All gifts made to support the Klingler College of Arts & Sciences in any area will be matched $1 for every $1, up to $50,000 by an anonymous donor.
Dr. Richard Jones, professor emeritus from the College of Arts and Sciences, is matching gifts to the Social and Cultural Sciences Fund dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,000.
College of Business Administration
Mark Schoenfelder, Bus Ad ’02, and Sarah Schoenfelder, Bus Ad ‘02, will match $2 for every $1 of gifts directed to the College of Business Administration up to $100,000. Mark and Sarah recently established the College of Business Administration Faculty Excellence Fund to help support faculty recruitment and retention, course/curriculum costs, faculty research stipends, and other needs.
Applied Investment Management Challenge: An anonymous donor from the Class of 1984 will donate $100,000 in support of the Applied Investment Management (AIM) Program when we secure 100 donors to the program.
Applied Investment Management Match: A group of Applied Investment Management (AIM) alumni is matching gifts made to the Applied Investment Management program dollar-for-dollar, up to $3,000.
Center for Real Estate Match: John Feeney, Bus Ad '11 and Katie Feeney, Bus Ad ‘11 will give $30 per donor to the Center for Real Estate, up to $3,000.
Center for Supply Chain Management Match: John Mau, Bus Ad '14, Grad '16, will give $25 per donor to Center for Supply Chain Management Fund, up to $2,500.
Akers Accounding Department Match: An anonymous donor will match gifts to the Akers Accounting Department Innovation Fund dollar-for-dollar up to $2,500.
Center for Professional Selling Match: Jim Ryan, Arts '89, and Tracy Ryan, Comm '89, will match gifts to the Center for Professional Selling dollar-for-dollar, up to $2,500.
Commercial Banking Program Match: John Barrett, Bus Ad '85, and Geoff Steinbrenner, Bus Ad '98, will match gifts to the Commercial Banking Program Operational Fund dollar-for-dollar, up to $3,000.
Economics Department Match: Marc Von Der Ruhr, Bus Ad '92, Grad '94, and Jennifer Von Der Ruhr, Arts '93, will match gifts to the Farrokh Nourzad Economics Department Enrichment Fund dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000.
Joe Daniels Endowed Memorial Fund Match: Marc Von Der Ruhr, Bus Ad '92, Grad '94, and Jennifer Von Der Ruhr, Arts '93, will match gifts to the Joe Daniels Endowed Memorial Fund dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000.
Diederich College of Communication
All gifts made to support the Diederich College of Communication in any area such as scholarship, the Diederich Experience, Student Media, the Student Agency, and Theatre Support Fund, will be matched $10 for every $1, up to $315,000 by Steve Olson, Sp ’78.
Coreen Dicus-Johnson, Comm '93, will give $20 for every $1 donated toward the J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication Scholarship Fund, up to $100,000.
Ed Pepan Scholarship Match: Ted Knap, Jour '40, will give $5 for every $1 donated to the Ed Pepan Scholarship Fund for Journalism majors, up to $50,000.
Neighborhood News Service Match: Nine community advocates have joined together to match gifts to the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service $5 for every $1 raised, up to $9,500. Nonprofit newsrooms like NNS play a central role in engaging communities on the local, national, and global issues that matter most. Your support makes it possible.
Student Media Gift Fund Match: Tim Vetscher, Comm '98, and Jill and Mark Zoromski, Director of Student Media, will give $2 for every $1 donated to the Student Media Gift Fund, up to $18,500.
Theatre Support Fund Match: Marquette Trustee Amy Ford Souders, Arts '92, and Stephen and Heidi Hudson-Mairet have joined together to match gifts to the Marquette Theatre Support Fund dollar for dollar, up to $2,000. Help support high-quality, student-driven performances that serve as a cornerstone of Marquette Arts.
School of Dentistry
All gifts made in support of the School of Dentistry will be matched $2 for every $1, up to $100,000 by an anonymous School of Dentistry alumna.
Opus College of Engineering
Jim Grotelueschen, Eng '73, Grad '74, and Kit Grotelueschen, Grad ’75, will donate $500 in support of College of Engineering enrollment and outreach for each donor to the College of Engineering, up to $100,000.
Rick McDermott, Eng ’91, Law ’94, and Rob Willard will donate $1 to support College of Engineering faculty excellence for each $1 given to a College of Engineering Fund, up to $25,000.
Graduate School
Jessica Sheetz Nguyen, Grad ’99, and Kenneth Nguyen, Grad ’94, will give $1 for every $1 donated to a Graduate School fund, up to $2,500.
College of Health Sciences
Daniel Real, Bus Ad ’81 and Susan Cronin Real, Bus Ad ‘81 will match $2 for every $1 of gifts directed to the College of Health Sciences up to $100,000.
Neuro Recovery Clinic Community Support Fund Match: The Elizabeth Elser Doolittle Charitable Trust No. ACE II, along with Paul Petitjean, Bus Ad ’82, and Anne Petitjean, PT ’82, will match donations to the Neuro Recovery Clinic Community Support Fund dollar-for-dollar up to $9,000.
Intensive Aphasia Program Client Support Fund Match: An anonymous family will match dollar for dollar each gift to the Intensive Aphasia Program Client Support Fund up to $7,500.
College of Nursing
Marquette parents David and Maureen Tarantino will match donations to the College of Nursing Scholarship Fund dollar for dollar, up to $10,000.

Overarching Scholarship Match
John Schaefer, Arts & Sciences '66, and Terry Schaefer will donate $150 in support of student scholarship for each donor who supports scholarship (Scholarship Fund or a college-specific Scholarship Fund), up to $75,000.
707 Hub Match
To celebrate the five-year anniversary of the 707 Hub, a generous alumnus has offered to match gifts dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000, to help more students launch as entrepreneurs, innovators and difference makers. A monthly gift of just $7.07 or more will help ensure the space always remains open, accessible and free to anyone on campus.
Backpack Program Challenge & Match
Sylvia Wallace, Jour '77, will give $100,000 to combat food insecurity on campus when 100 donors make a gift to the Backpack Program.
In honor of their mother and grandmother, Thelma L. Osborne, Lisa Osborne Ross, Jour ’84, and her daughter, Claire Elizabeth Ross, Arts ’15, will donate $1,000 to the Backpack Program for each donor who makes a gift to the fund, up to $45,000. The Backpack Program provides groceries to Marquette students experiencing food insecurity.
Bridge to the Future Donor Match
Mary Ellen, Arts ’78, and Scott, Arts ’77, Dent ’82, Stanek, National Campaign Co-chairs, will donate $500 to support student scholarships for every donor who supports the Bridge to the Future Fund, up to $500,000. This fund provides financial aid assistance to students whose changing economic circumstances jeopardize their ability to continue their Marquette education.
An anonymous couple from the class of 1988 will donate $200 to the Bridge to the Future for every donor who supports the fund, up to $25,000.
Center for Peacemaking Match
John, Arts ’78, and Susan, Sp ’78, Byrne, will donate $400 to the John and Susan Byrne Endowed Fund for Community Research and Assistance for every donor who supports the Center for Peacemaking, up to $20,000.
An anonymous couple will match gifts made to the Center For Peacemaking Civil Rights Pilgrimage dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000.
Chapel of the Holy Family Match
Rich Poirier, Arts '83, Law '86, and his wife Jane, Nurs '83, will give $1 for every $1 donated toward the Chapel of the Holy Family Restoration Project Fund, up to $100,000.
E-Lead Program Match:
Mary O'Toole, Eng '79, and Jack O'Toole will match gifts to support the E-Lead Program dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000.
Explorer Challenge
John Schaefer, Arts '66, and Terry Schaefer will donate $5 for every $1 donated to the Explorer Challenge, up to $25,000.
Honors Program Match
Dr. Paul Sackett, Arts ’75, and Dr. Pat Sackett, Arts ’75, will give $25 for every $1 donated toward the Honors Program Fund, up to $50,000.
Ignatio Ellacuria, S.J., Dreamer’s Endowed Scholarship Match
Dan and Guadalupe Scholl will match gifts to the Ignatio Ellacuria, S.J., Dreamer’s Endowed Scholarship, dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000. This scholarship benefits undocumented students attending Marquette University.
IWL Excellence Fund Match
The Institute for Women’s Leadership Advisory Council will match every gift to the IWL Excellence Fund $1 for $1 up to $25,000. Your gift supports research and programs that will lead to greater gender equity in leadership.
Julian Kossow Endowed DC Fellowship Fund Match
Two anonymous Marquette alumni will match $50 for every donor to the Julian Kossow Endowed DC Fellowship Fund up to $1,000.
Marquette Mentors Challenge
An anonymous mentor will give $25,000 in support of Marquette Mentors when 75 mentors and mentees make a gift to any fund on Give Marquette Day.
On Your Marq Autism Support Program Match
Marquette parents Lynn and Jason Waterman will match donations to the On Your Marq Autism Support Program dollar for dollar, up to $20,000. On Your Marq is a college transition support program for students with autism spectrum disorders.
Student Success Match
Marcus Lemonis, Arts '95, will match all gifts up to $5,000,000 in support of Student Success.
Time To Rise Windy City Challenge
With the launch of Time to Rise, Marquette’s largest campaign in history, we invite you to rise up with fellow Chicago-area alumni and friends as part of the Time to Rise Windy City Challenge — an opportunity to unlock $250,000 for student scholarships from a generous benefactor when 110 donors from Chicago join Marquette’s President’s Society.
Undergraduate Research Social Challenge
The Rolfs Family will donate $100,000 to support undergraduate research at Marquette when 200 people like or share the Undergraduate Research challenge post on Give Marquette Day.
Urban Scholars Match
John and Kathleen Vondran will give $400 per donor to the Urban Scholars Fund, up to $20,000.
Wellness + Recreation Facility Match
An anonymous couple will match gifts to the Wellness + Recreation Facility Fund, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000,000.

The M Club will contribute $1,000 to the Men's Basketball Excellence Fund when 10 former Men's Basketball student-athletes participate in Give Marquette Day.

Kerri Simmons, Bus Ad '89, will match gifts to the Women's Basketball Excellence Fund dollar for dollar, up to $2,500.
The M Club will contribute $1,000 to the Women's Basketball Excellence Fund when 21 former Women's Basketball student-athletes participate in Give Marquette Day.
Men's Golf
Andy Harwood, Comm '02, will match gifts to the Men's Golf Excellence Fund dollar for dollar, up to $6,000.
Jim Nasiopulos and Phyllis Nasiopulos, Grad '90, will donate $40 to Men's Golf for every donor who supports the Men's Golf Excellence Fund, up to $2,000.
The M Club will contribute $1,000 to the Men's Golf Excellence Fund when 56 former Men's Golf student-athletes participate in Give Marquette Day.

Bob Wright will match gifts dollar for dollar, up to $5,000, for the Men’s Lacrosse Excellence Fund.
The M Club will contribute $1,000 to the Men's Lacrosse Excellence Fund when 25 former Men's Lacrosse student-athletes participate in Give Marquette Day.

The M Club will contribute $1,000 to the Women's Lacrosse Excellence Fund when 39 former Women's Lacrosse student-athletes participate in Give Marquette Day.

Thomas Sweeney, Arts '72, Grad '75, will match gifts to the Men's Soccer Excellence Fund dollar for dollar, up to $1,964.
The M Club will contribute $1,000 to the Men's Soccer Excellence Fund when 15 former Men's Soccer student-athletes participate in Give Marquette Day.

Laura (Boyer) Carley, Bus Ad '07, will give $5 for every donor who makes a gift to the Women's Soccer Excellence Fund, up to $500.
