1881 Participation Challenge - An anonymous emeritus faculty member will contribute $1,500,000 to support Marquette student scholarships once we reach 1881 donors. The donor is a loyal Marquette faculty member who hopes to see future applicants to the University provided with financial assistance where there is both need and achievement determining the award.

1977 Championship Participation Challenge - In honor of the 1977 National Championship, Rick, Bus Ad ’77, and Patrice Broeren, Sp ’77, Grad ’78, will donate $250,000 to Marquette when we reach 1977 donors. Additionally, the 1977th donor will receive a special ’77 prize package, including:

  • Two ’77 Golden Ale T-shirts
  • Two ’77 Golden Ale Koozies
  • One 4-Pack of ’77 Golden Ale

50 State Challenge - 50 State Challenge: Unlock Wellness + Recreation Gift in Honor of Mike and Amy Lovell

Mary Ellen, Arts ’78, and Scott, Arts ’77, Dent ’82, Stanek, National Campaign Co-chairs, will donate $100,000 to support the Wellness + Recreation Facility Fund in honor of Mike and Amy Lovell when we receive a gift from a donor in each of the 50 states. 

This Wellness + Recreation Facility will improve campus health and wellness by physically bringing together three key student-centric areas: fitness and recreation, medical services, and mental health services. 

Just as the Wellness + Recreation Facility will bring these three areas (and our campus) together, the 50 State Participation Challenge also brings together Marquette supporters across the nation.

50 State Social Media Challenge -  Paul Manghera (@paulmanghera), @MUBusiness '82 and @MarquetteAlumni National Board Member, will donate $5,000 when we reach all 50 states. BONUS: When someone shares an international location, Paul will donate an additional $1500. 

Noon Power Hour Participation Match - Greg, Arts ’81, and Cindy Archambault will donate $100 to Marquette for every donor who makes a gift between Noon and 1:00 p.m. CT, up to $20,000.

Noon Power Hour Participation Challenge - If 250 donors make a gift between noon and 1 p.m. CT on Give Marquette Day, it will unlock a $50,000 gift for student scholarships from John, Eng ’82, and Barbara Hartnett, Nurs ’82.

3 p.m. Participation Challenge - Marc Viale, Arts ’90, will donate $50 to Marquette for every donor who makes a gift between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. CT, up to $6,000.

Final Countdown Participation Challenge - The Final Countdown: An anonymous alumni donor will give $500 for each gift we receive during the final hour of Give Marquette Day, up to $50,000. Plus, the last donor to make a gift by 11:59 p.m. CT will win a special Marquette prize package.

Overall Scholarship Match - John Schaefer, Arts & Sciences '66, and Terry Schaefer will donate $150 in support of student scholarship for each donor who supports scholarship (Scholarship Fund or a college-specific Scholarship Fund), up to $75,000.

Alumni Couples Participation Challenge - Chris, Bus Ad ’71, and Marianne, Arts ’71, Grad ’72, Palen will give $200 to Marquette for every alumni couple who makes a gift to any fund, up to $20,000. The Palens will be supporting the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center (AHPRC) Phase II project.

Faculty/Staff Participation Challenge - An anonymous emeritus faculty member will contribute $100 to support Marquette faculty travel stipends for every Marquette faculty or staff member who makes a gift on Give Marquette Day, up to $26,000.

New Donor Challenge - The Reeves family will give $25,000 to support Equity in MKE if 500 new donors participate on Give Marquette Day. Equity in MKE provides room and board, technology or book funding to Urban Scholars and other scholarship recipients, removing a significant financial barrier for student success.

Parent Participation Challenge - Marquette parents Carla Anderson Skogland and Keith Skogland will donate $100 to support the Wellness + Recreation Facility Fund for every (current or past) parent donor who makes a gift on Give Marquette Day, up to $30,000. This Wellness + Recreation Facility will improve campus health and wellness by physically bringing together three key student-centric areas: fitness and recreation, medical services, and mental health services.

Student Participation Challenge - Brothers David Trautschold, Eng ’06, and Matt Trautschold, Eng ’04, will give $50 for each student donor, up to 200 donors.

Young Alumni Participation Challenge - Members of the Young Alumni Campaign Committee and Young Alumni Leadership Council will give $40,000 to Marquette when 1,250 young alumni (graduates from 2003-2022) make a gift to any fund on Give Marquette Day.

Backpack Program Match - Members of the Marquette Alumni Association National Board of Directors will match gifts to the Backpack Program, $5 for every $1, up to $8,300.

Bridge to the Future Match - Blue’s Birthday Challenge: The Lynch Family Foundation will match gifts to the Bridge to the Future Fund, dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000.

Dreamer's Scholarship Match - Dan and Guadalupe Scholl will match gifts to the Ignacio Ellacuría, S.J., Dreamers Scholarship Fund, dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000. This scholarship supports the financial needs of Marquette students who don't have access to federal financial aid.

Graduate School Challenge - In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Graduate School, Joan Timmerman, Arts '61, Grad '68, '74, will donate $100 for every Graduate School alumnus/a who makes a gift on Give Marquette Day, up to $8,000.

Honors Program Match - Dr. Paul Sackett, Arts ’75, and Dr. Pat Sackett, Arts ’75, will give $25 for every $1 donated toward the Honors Program Fund, up to $50,000.

Institute for Women's Leadership Match - The Institute for Women’s Leadership Advisory Council will match every gift to the IWL Excellence Fund $1 for $1 up to $25,000. Your gift supports research and programs that will lead to greater gender equity in leadership.

Marquette Mentors Match - 20 mentee alumni leaders have collectively stepped forward to match your gifts as a challenge for up to $4,500 in support of Marquette Mentors. 

Urban Scholars Match - Kathleen, Arts ’71, and John Vondran will give $10 for every $1 donated to the Urban Scholars program, up to $30,000.

Klingler College of Arts and Sciences

College of Arts & Sciences Overall Match - All gifts made to support the Klingler College of Arts & Sciences, in any area, will be matched $1 for every $1, up to $10,000 by Remington Tonar, Arts '09.

Center for Peacemaking - An anonymous friend of the Center for Peacemaking will donate $100 to the Center for Peacemaking Civil Rights Pilgrimage for every donor who supports the Center for Peacemaking, up to $10,000.

Les Aspin Center Match - To celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Les Aspin Center for Government, the Tynan Family will match gifts to the Les Aspin Center $35 for $1, up to $35,000.

The Tynans first met Les Aspin when he was an assistant professor of Economics at Marquette in 1969. They knew him during his long Congressional career and beyond. With this gift the Tynan family is honoring Les Aspin’s life of service, to Marquette, to the state of Wisconsin and to the United States of America.  He was always the teacher and always the student.  Les Aspin inspired hundreds of people to a life of public service during his lifetime. The Marquette University Les Aspin Center for Government celebrates his legacy and continues to deliver on its promise to inspire students to become people dedicated to public service, helping to form ethical leaders who truly are “men and women for others” in the Jesuit tradition.

 

 

College of Business Administration

COBA Overall Match - Jason Graham, Bus Ad ’95, and Diep Graham, Bus Ad ’99, will match dollar-for-dollar for each gift directed to the College of Business Administration, up to $50,000.
 
Jason and Diep have supported Marquette’s Applied Investment Management (AIM) program through their own giving, with a focus on financial literacy, the growth of free market economies, and lifelong learning.

AIM Challenge - Jay, Bus Ad ’84, and Sara Schwister will give $1,000 for every donor who supports the Applied Investment Management Program Fund, up to $100,000.

Real Estate Match - Joe, Bus Ad '77, and Nanette, Sp '77, Grad '78, McElwee will donate $100 for every donor who supports the Center for Real Estate, up to $10,000.

Real Estate Young Alumni Match - Plus, gifts from recent graduates (2017-2022) to the Real Estate Program Development Fund will be matched $5 for every $1, up to $3,500 thanks to John Feeney, Bus Ad ’11, and Katie Feeney, Bus Ad ’11.

Supply Chain Match - Mark, Bus Ad ’87, Grad ’91, and Lori Boutelle, and John Mau, Bus Ad '14, Grad '16, will give $100 per donor to Center for Supply Chain Management Fund, up to $5,000.

 

Diederich College of Communication

Communication Match - All gifts made to support the Diederich College of Communication in any area such as scholarship, the Diederich Experience, Student Media, the Student Agency, and Theatre Support Fund, will be matched $5 for every $1, up to $100,000 by Jerry Buldak, Jour ’66. 

Diederich Experience Match - John Salak, Jour ‘79, will match gifts to the Diederich Experience Fund up to $2,500.

Theatre Program Match - Marquette Trustee Amy Ford Souders, Arts '92, and Stephen and Heidi Hudson-Mairet have joined together to match gifts to the Marquette Theatre Support Fund dollar for dollar, up to $2,500. Help support high-quality, student-driven performances that serve as a cornerstone of Marquette Arts.

 

School of Dentistry

Dental School Match - All gifts made in support of the School of Dentistry will be matched $2 for every $1, up to $100,000 by an anonymous School of Dentistry alumna.

 

 

Opus College of Engineering

Engineering Fund Match - An anonymous donor will match all gifts made to the Opus College of Engineering Fund, $1 for $1, up to $10,000.

Engineering Participation - John, Eng '80, and Chris McDermott will donate $1,000 for every gift that supports the Opus College of Engineering, in any area, up to $250,000.

 

 

College of Health Sciences

COHS Match - Daniel Real, Bus Ad ’81 and Susan Cronin Real, Bus Ad ‘81 will match $1 for every $1 of gifts directed to the College of Health Sciences up to $50,000.

Neurorecovery Clinic Match - The Elizabeth Elser Doolittle Charitable Trust No. ACE II, along with Paul Petitjean, Bus Ad ’82, and Anne Petitjean, PT ’82, will match donations to the Neuro Recovery Clinic Community Support Fund $2 for every $1, up to $9,000.

 

 

College of Nursing

College of Nursing Match - All gifts made to support the College of Nursing, in any area, will be matched $5 for every $1, up to $50,000 by Lisa Grabert.

 

 

Athletics

Athletics Match - Chuck, Eng ’89, and Karen, Eng ’90, Swoboda, National Campaign Co-chairs, will match $2 for every $1 of gifts directed to any Marquette Athletics fund, up to $100,000. Chuck and Karen will support the Men’s Basketball Excellence Fund, which provides the program with critical resources for leadership development and team building programming, upgrading analytics and more. In addition to this excellence fund, other Athletics funds that provide transformational impact for student-athletes include:

  • The M Club will contribute $1,000 to the Women’s Soccer Excellence Fund when 75 former Women's Soccer student-athletes participate in Give Marquette Day.
  • The M Club will contribute $1,000 to the Women's Lacrosse Excellence Fund when 35 former Women's Lacrosse student-athletes participate in Give Marquette Day.
  • The M Club will contribute $1,000 to the Women's Tennis Excellence Fund when 16 former Women's Tennis student-athletes participate in Give Marquette Day.

Cheer and Dance Excellence Fund Match - Marquette Cheerleading alum, Tom Chowaniec, Eng ’93, will match all donations to the newly established Cheer and Dance Excellence Fund at $2 for every $1, up to $10,000. 

Men's Golf Excellence Fund - Andy Harwood, Comm '02, will match gifts to the Men's Golf Excellence Fund dollar for dollar, up to $4,000. 

Men's Lacrosse Excellence Fund - An anonymous men's lacrosse supporter will match gifts $2 for $1 donated to the Men's Lacrosse Excellence Fund up to $10,000. 

Men's Soccer Excellence Fund - Men’s Soccer alum John Mau, Bus Ad ’14, Grad ’16, will match gifts $2 for $1 donated to the Men’s Soccer Excellence Fund up to $2,500.

Men's Soccer: Stephen K. Adlard Memorial Scholarship - Men’s soccer alumni Adam Ubert, H Sci ’04, and Kyle Weber, H Sci ’06, PT ’08, and Heather Weber, Bus Ad ’06, Grad ’09, will match gifts dollar for dollar to support the Stephen K. Adlard Men’s Soccer Memorial Scholarship up to $10,000.

Women's Soccer Excellence Fund - Former women’s soccer player, Laura (Boyer) Carley, Bus Ad '07, will give $5 for every donor who makes a gift to the Women's Soccer Excellence Fund, up to $500.

Women's Tennis Excellence Fund - The Marquette Women’s Tennis teams from the 1990s are matching donations $2 for every $1 to support the Women’s Tennis Excellence Fund up to $4,000.

Track & Field/Cross Country Excellence Fund Match - To celebrate 100 Years of Marquette Track and Field, Ted Mahoney, Arts ’77, and Lei Mahoney will match all donors toward the Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Excellence Fund $100 per donor up to $10,000.

Women's Volleyball Travel Excellence Fund - Volleyball Head Coach, Ryan Theis, is matching alumni gifts to the Women's Volleyball Travel Excellence Fund dollar for dollar up to $1,000.

 

 

Research & Innovation

Explorer Challenge - John Schaefer, Arts & Sciences '66, and Terry Schaefer will donate $5 for every $1 donated to the Explorer Challenge, up to $25,000.

 

 

Regional Challenges

Northeast Participation Challenge - If 250 donors from the Northeast make a gift on Give Marquette Day, members of the Northeast Campaign Committee will give $475,000 to Marquette.

Time to Rise Windy City Participation Challenge - If 1,000 donors from the Chicago region make a gift on Give Marquette Day, members of the Chicago Campaign Committee will give $100,000 to Marquette.

Time to Rise: West Coast - With the launch of Time to Rise, Marquette’s largest campaign in history, we invite you to rise up with alumni and friends in the West Region as part of the Time to Rise West Region Challenge — an opportunity to unlock $125,000 from Jim Eschweiler, Bus Ad ’91, and Siobain Eschweiler, Comm ’91, when we reach 1881 donors from Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

West Coast Participation Challenge - With the launch of Time to Rise, Marquette’s largest campaign in history, we invite you to rise up with alumni and friends in the West Region as part of the Time to Rise West Region Challenge — an opportunity to unlock $125,000 from Jim Eschweiler, Bus Ad ’91, and Siobain Eschweiler, Comm ’91, when we reach 1881 donors from Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
